WOMEN: Changing Roles: The Russian Family in Flux

MUCH OF THE RUSSIAN POPULATION believes the family is a valuable institution, as demonstrated by answers to the question “What mode of life would you advise a young man or a young woman to choose?” asked by , researchers at the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion. The center, with financial aid from the President’s Commission on Women’s, Family, and Demographic Problems, conducted a poll of a representative sample of 2,000 adults throughout Russia in August 1994.
