IMRE BORBELY IS AN IMPRES-sive figure. An engineer by profession, before the overthrow of Nicolae Ceausescu’s dictatorship in 1989, the Hungarian politician worked for several years in research in Timisoara. It was there, in the capital city of western Romania’s Banat region, that he met and later became a close collaborator of Laszlo Tokes, the future “spark” of the Romanian revolution.
