The project seeks to highlight interesting and important books published in and about Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and the former Soviet Union. Donor: Fund for Central and East European Book Projects (CEEBP)
Objectives
The project goals are to provide coverage of local-language books seeing this as an important way in which we can serve our readers throughout the region; to continue offering coverage of English-language books of significance; and to increase cooperation with local literary and cultural journals.
Project Activities
Continuing our long-term cooperation with CEEBP, TOL editors will commission a wide range of book reviews for publication in TOL’s book section as well as highlight important publishing trends across the region. In addition, TOL will contact the region’s cultural journals with the inter-linked goals of: encouraging the free-of-charge republication of TOL book reviews in these journals; obtaining permission to republish reviews and articles from these journals; boosting our number of qualified reviewers; and promoting TOL and our book section.
