AS THE ONLY COUNTRY in the Balkans that belongs to both NATO and the European Union, Greece could have been in a position to assist its neighbors in their difficult transition process while strengthening its own status in the region. Instead, Greek politicians have engaged in quarrels that have weakened the country’s image in both the Balkans and the rest of the world.
