Albania: Mending Relations With Greece

ALBANIA’S RELEASE OF FOUR GREEK minority leaders convicted of espionage, together with a meeting of foreign ministers earlier this year, seems to have opened the door to improving Greek-Albanian relations, which had been at a standstill for months. The espionage incident focused international attention on Albania’s treatment of minorities and on regional conflicts that could result from continued fighting over age-old border disputes and minority issues.
