20 July 2001 SKOPJE–There are 37,144 internally displaced persons in Macedonia as a consequence of the armed conflict that broke out in February, while almost 60,000 found refuge abroad, mostly in neighboring Kosovo, according to the Macedonian Red Cross. A total of more than 70,000 have the country since March, but 11,853 have since returned.
